Please call the parish office to request the Sacrament of Baptism for your infant; you will be contacted by a parish representative to setup an initial appointment, either at your home or at the parish.
Baptism preparation classes are 2 hours long and are held monthly in one of three locations: St. Maximilian-Kolbe parish, St. Bartholomew parish, and St. John’s parish center. At your initial appointment, you will be given information on the next available baptism preparation class, or you can check with your parish office to sign up. You must take one baptism preparation class before you set the date for your child’s baptism and select Godparents for your child. After you take the baptismal preparation class, you are ready to set a date for your child’s baptism and name Godparents for your child. Your parish representative will follow up with you to set the date for your child’s baptism and gather your child’s Godparent information.
Please arrive no later than 15 minutes before your baby’s baptism. Pews will be reserved for you and your family and friends at the front of the church. Please process out behind the priest at the end of Mass and stand in the Narthex so parishioners can welcome our newest Christian. A Baptismal Certificate will be given to you at the time of baptism.
Each parish has a gathering of families who have had a child baptized in the last few years. These gatherings vary from parish to parish, but could include workshops, such as “How to Pray with Young Children,” faith-sharing among parents, and a fellowship meal or refreshments. If you are a first-time parent, you will also receive a series of letters as your child grows that will give you some spiritual nourishment and guidance as you raise your child in the Catholic faith.
