Youth Programs
Youth Education:
Grades 7-8:
This program is centered on the Eucharist.
So, we start with participating in the 11 am Mass, gathering for
lunch, preparing for next Sunday’s Mass with choir or instrumental practice,
or reflecting on next Sunday’s readings.
After this, we will have a JYM session for about an hour.
Jr. High youth have many options and choices before them. Jr. YM
provides an unparalleled moment in
their life for guidance and reassurance in Jesus’ love for them. Through
this ministry, we give our Jr. High youth the support
they need in life: Jesus, The Word,
The Sacraments, the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and a Catholic
Community where they can experience true peace, hope, joy, and the love of
God! We usually need about 4-6
Catechists who will work as a team to lead a group of about 25-30.
We always need help from parents to
coordinate our occasional socials, and service projects. Training is
provided.
Grades 9-12:
This program will be using the Life Teen model, which is centered on the
Eucharist. So, we start with
participating in the 11 am Mass, gathering for lunch, preparing for next
Sunday’s Mass with choir or instrumental practice, or reflecting on next
Sunday’s readings. After this,
we will have a YM session for about an hour.
Youth Ministry is the response of the Catholic Community to the needs of
young people, and the sharing of the unique gifts of youth with the
community as a whole. Life Teen
is an international Catholic movement that serves the Church by providing
resources and faith experiences that help lead teens closer to Christ. This
is accomplished through a vibrant Eucharistic spirituality and by creating
opportunities for teens to grow in their faith following the lead of Jesus
to use and share their own unique gifts.
We provide for them an opportunity to see the positive effects of
their own beliefs and abilities in action and in relationships.
We participate in fundraising activities, service projects especially
the Soup Kitchen, Diocesan regional events, parish sponsored overnight
retreats, youth liturgies, devotional prayer services, social activities
with our cluster parishes, and parish seasonal events.
We usually need 4-6 adults to work as a team to lead the YM sessions
for about 15-20 youth, work with them on their activities and chaperone for
regional and parish events. We
always need help from parents to help coordinate our occasional socials, and
service projects. Training is
provided.
