Grades 9-12    Youth Ministry
  --  Sundays 12:30-2:00 p.m.

A Feb 2008 article on our Youth Ministry Group

Youth Ministry is the response of the Catholic Community to the needs of young
people, and the sharing of the unique gifts of youth with the community as a whole.
There are three goals in Youth Ministry:  Empowerment, Participation, and Growth.
Our settings for Youth Ministry are with youth, family, parish, and community.

We normally meet two or three times per month on Sunday afternoons 12:30-2:00 p.m.
Other days and times are added for special events.  We have a teen room for our
meetings, and youth are encouraged to gather there informally at other times as well.
Our regular sessions usually include fellowship involving food, catechesis, faith sharing,
community building activities, planning for upcoming events, and prayer.

Youth Ministry empowers students to follow the lead of Jesus to use and share their
own unique gifts.  We provide for them an opportunity to see the positive effects of their
own beliefs and abilities in action.  We participate in fundraising activities, service
projects especially the Soup Kitchen, Diocesan regional events, parish sponsored
overnight retreats, youth liturgies, devotional prayer services, social activities with our
cluster parishes, and parish seasonal events.

We usually need 7-8 adults to work with the youth on their activities and chaperone for
regional and parish events.  Parents are always welcome to come and share the afternoon’s
activities or any other event with us.
